@libarts123 @katedagreat @singingbear do you know what research thing u got? Like in the earlier email in February or something, you selected your top three, how do we know which one were in for?
I don’t think the letter talks about the research topics.
So this is kind of weird. My daughter was admitted somewhere else ED2 and promptly contacted each of the schools she had applied to to withdraw her application. Colby must have missed her email because they processed her application and she got in as a Bunche Scholar. So good news for anyone waitlisted I guess!
Stats: 3.8 UW GPA, 35 ACT, no interview
@kingsley1420 I know exactly how you feel. I’m international too. Need-aware is hard.
DD accepted with Bunche Scholars (for future reference she did receive the email prior to today), and she got incredible financial aid!
Colby RD announced. Friend just got an email.
waitlisted lol
international student btw
Son rejected. Only applied because they seem to be very generous for low-income students. He has since decided to pursue nursing, which of course they don’t offer.
@excalibur123 I sincerely wish you the best of luck getting into one of your match or reach schools so that you can attend one of those!!
waitlisted at colby today, but also accepted johns hopkins bme and swarthmore
Congrats to those accepted! And to those waitlisted or rejected, don’t take it personally (everyone says that, lol, but I mean it). My friend who is a student at Colby said that their acceptance rate for the Class of 2023 is 11%.
accepted yooo!
so happy to get this right after reading jhu’s rejection!
I’m very sorry to ask this stupid question. How competitive is Colby? Just saw someone rejected from Colby, but admitted to Swarthmore and Johns Hopkins. Colby is that competitive? (Sorry I’m an immigrant. My D just admitted to Colby, but her college counselor recommended … we live in rocky mountain area, west side of country and have never been to Maine.)
Could someone compare Colby and Amherst, please?
Colby is very competitive. Opinions differ, but most list will have it a T20 LAC. Colby’s recent acceptance rate is 16%, but it is trending down and rumored to be 13% this year or lower. Amherst is 13% recently. All the schools your listed are very good.
@pn24601 Thanks a lot! There would be different opinions, but … so … Colby and Amherst are very close? same level of schools?
I think it’s safe to say both are T20 LAC’s. My D didn’t look at Amherst so maybe someone else can compare them in more detail.
Waitlisted. International Student.
@singingbear, Colby and Amherst are in the same athletic league, the NESCAC, which group has often been referred to as the “Little Ivies.” So yes, they are comparable selective liberal arts colleges.
According to their Instagram, the class of 2022 had a 13% acceptance rate…I’m curious to see whether it will go down even more for this class!
Someone mentioned they heard 2023 admit rate was 11%. Not sure how they would hav Ethan stat yet, but there you go!
