I have heard that Colgate has good placement into the financial field and would love to hear you guys’ opinion on that. I wanted to major in finance, but I am open to majoring in econ if it leads me into finance anyways. What kind of internships or other opportunities are there are Colgate for someone looking to go into finance? Is this a common path for people at Colgate?
In terms economics itself, Colgate appears to be very strong, ranking seventh in this analysis based on faculty publishing: “Economics Departments at Liberal Arts Colleges,” IDEAS.
Whether or not a college offers finance as a major, a strong econ department will offer – in addition to the foundational courses that would be essential for serious study in the field – topic-specific courses in financial economics and international finance.
