Hey guys! I'm a senior in high school and looking to decide which school I want to attend next year. I have narrowed it down essentially to either NYU or Colgate University. Both are highly reputable schools however I have one problem.

I know I want to work in a business field such finance or statistics. NYU Stern offers a great undergraduate business program, however, Colgate does not have a business school and only offers an Economics major. My major problem is the price; Colgate is offering much more financial aid than NYU, but I am concerned about the versatility of the Econ major vs the Stern degree when looking for a finance job and applying to graduate school.

Thanks for any insight!

Colgate and NYU are worlds apart in so many respects and so I don’t even understand where you find overlaps to choose from- apart from what you attribute to their respective reputations.

Further, you are not pursuing an MBA at this time, are you? So what’s the first 3 sentences of your second paragraph about? Are you not familiar with what both schools’ graduates achieve in the finance world?

If you don’t recognize the real differences between the 2 campus’ offerings, well, I suggest you revisit your assumptions and requirements. No one on this board can advise you as to what you will have achieved in 4 years either. That’s up to you. That’s my insight, since you asked.

Good luck with your college search!
