@serwar473 Put me on your list. But I am from Egypt and need lots of aid so you can remove my name again hahaha
@Kimo212 Yeah…I applied for aid too I really hope it doesn’t affect my chances, because it is my DREAM school and I would do anything to get accepted (the funny thing is I did not apply ED because I wasn’t sure back then). Tbh Colgate was at the top of my list at first but the fact that it is a party school really changed my mind.
Any domestic applicants here? Anyone receive a FedEx or USPS alert?
Nope no alert. Are we supposed to?
Only if you signed up for them… Some people in previous years knew a packet was coming via FedEx because they signed up for alerts on deliveries to their addresses through FedEx. USPS now has the same service. I don’t think Colgate or any school would FedEx the small waitlist or rejection envelopes though…all of those people who got the FedEx alert got accepted.
Also, packages could be sent any which way-- some people got USPS acceptances too. It seems to be random which courier they use for acceptances.
Is it too late to sign up? Do you sign up through colgate or UPS and FedEx?
It’s a FedEx service. You can sign up but I have no idea the lag time or if something mailed this morning would show up in your alerts.
For some people, they got no FedEx notification and an acceptance still showed up. So no alert coming doesn’t necessarily mean not accepted. (is that a triple negative I just used?)
There’s no need to sign up. It won’t change the outcome. This is actually a good opportunity to practice patience.
^^^^It’s a personal choice, and no one’s business but yours.
I am an international and just received a rejection email:
Among the many tasks faced by the Colgate admission staff, by far the most difficult responsibility we have is to notify a student that we are unable to offer admission. We appreciate the interest you have shown in Colgate and the dedication reflected in your academic and personal record, but after careful review of our applicant pool, I am sorry to inform you of our conclusion that we cannot offer you a position in the Colgate Class of 2021.
The admission process this year was highly competitive. We have reviewed applications from more than 8,500 talented students for 770 places in the class. In recent years we have enjoyed an increasing level of interest from very talented students. One consequence of this stronger applicant pool is that we must disappoint many students who certainly could meet the challenge of a Colgate education and contribute to life on campus. Our decision to deny admission is very much a reflection of this competitive situation in which we do not have room to admit many fine candidates.
I trust that you have identified some alternate college choices that will provide the academic challenge you seek. If your interest in Colgate continues, however, you are welcome to apply for admission as a transfer student once you have completed one year of college work.
I am sorry that the news today is not pleasant. I received notifications like this myself so I know how you feel. We remain grateful to you for choosing to apply to Colgate and respect the effort you devoted to your application and preparation for college. We also hope the remainder of your year will be filled with a sense of optimism and excitement as you make plans to begin your college years. I do want you to know that the admission committee at Colgate wishes you the very best success throughout the future.
Quite disappointing, but I hope y’all get in.
Very sorry!! Know how it feels. Sure you’ll find the right place
