^^ Sounds logical, so I’d go with that
Since we’re too stressed out anyway, who came prepared w/the ice cream tubs on deck?
@lacazette9 @imponderable I am talking about Intl’s with average GPAs, and SATs getting accepted to non-needblind schools or requesting full ride from a top 40 one. You need that ‘peak’ in your application for any kind of school for that kind of aid. Most of the time its a varsity recruitment or a top sat score. Never met anyone (intl) with a 1800/2400 SAT who wanted a full-ride for Colgate and actually got in.
and btw @lacazette9 aren’t you a competitive swimmer.? and from your posts I see that u don’t request fin aid…what are we talking about here
I’m international who didn’t get an email. Does that mean I got in?
Hey, question. Just got to this thread. I saw the tweet that Colgate sent out. Does that mean they will be in our mailboxes today? Or they sent them out today so they should be here sometimes this week? Kinda confused.
@SAMDCPS they mailed them today. They should start arriving tomorrow for people close to hamilton.
Hey, everyone. I am an international who has not got anything till now. How long can I expect an email? My hopes are not too high as I require financial aid. Already Wait listed from UChicago and Colby
@elliotalderson are you saying a US citizen with a low SAT score and totally unremarkable personality can be accepted to a top school, as opposed to an international applicant? And in my personal opinion comparing sports recruitment to SAT scores is like comparing apples to oranges.
Besides, need-blind doesn’t mean nationality-blind. And there are lots of schools that accept full ride intls, apart from the 6 need-blinds.
Are you even reading my posts? Why are you bringing extreme cases lol…
1800 is not a low score for Colgate, the matter of fact it was average until recently, but there are people from the US requesting aid with that score, not doing sports and still get accepted. Intl’s…not really. Check the threads…for Colby, Reed, Middllebury etc.
Financial Aid is a major thing for need-aware schools. That is why they are ‘AWARE’ after all.
It’s just a business…you’re paying them for your education, they’re paying others for lectures, equipment etc.
Postgrad? Different thing. Here you can actually bring money to the school by doing research, published PhDs etc. and that’s why it can get easier.
@elliotalderson my bad, totally missed the financial aid part (anyway I was not recruited for swimming), incredible tho how competitive it is for all internationals, apparently it’s somehow even harder for those who need aid…
I just had a random idea for domestic applicants to possibly learn of their admission decision early. Since decisions have been made, I assume the admins of the Colgate Class of 2021 Facebook group have the list of students eligible to be added, so could we not request to join while our mail is being sent/delivered? If accepted into the Facebook group we would know we were accepted and vice versa. Not sure if anyone else has had the same idea or if this would even work.
But it’s so stupid it might work
orrrrr we could just wait a few days for the mail to come…
Thats actually such a smart idea
They let me join but who knows what that means
yall are crazy
@elliotalderson why do you think 1,800 is not a low score for Colgate, especially for an international student? The average SAT score at Colgate is 2,100, so 1,800 is very low.
The group admins are actually admission officers.
Do you think I can receive my letter tomorrow in NYC?
I guess if a random person with a random name who didn’t even apply to Colgate gets accepted to the FB page then it means nothing. Anyone have a friend?
