rejections could have been because of essays?
@FPAparent at a college admissions assembly, the speaker explained that colleges like students that don’t require financial aid because they’re free. They shouldn’t do it, but, unfortunately, it happens.
@camwow - not sure if you were referring to denied or waitlisted students, but in our case (waitlisted), I am very confident that the essays were excellent. I agree with @laurclassof2021 (and my initial instinct) that the financial aid requirement was the discriminating factor. If we did not request financial aid, I think it would have been an acceptance. Well, live and learn through the process.
Waitlisted. 32 ACT 3.8 UW GPA. Upset at first, but it looks like only 10% of applicants were admitted this year. In that case, I consider myself lucky, lol.
@collegeissomuch how do U know it’s only 10%?
Apparently it was in the waitlist letter- 770 accepted out of like 8500- but they enrolled 775 in the freshman class last year so unless they expect 100% yield, that doesn’t make sense
10% Whoa
@camwow Misinformation. Disregard that. Wish I could delete that comment. Am I able to or is it a permanent thing?
it’s permanent but that’s alright!
Was waitlisted after I was deferred. I’m not too disappointed because Colgate still remains my top choice school. (BTW live in CA)
I’m in Southern California and got my package today! Congrats to everyone who got in!
Anyone mind sharing their little notes on the acceptance letters?
Just got my package today. An international (Eastern Europe). $64 000 fin package with no loans. Super excited!
@Emsmom1 , those might have been WL stats. Last year, they admitted 2410 students to get their 775 class. But I recall that they offered WL to a lot – close to 1800, and a lot of people accepted those WL spots. Maybe 10% of people on WL were ultimately admitted?
@FPAparent I have to show my kid your post, maybe he’ll feel a little better. LOL. We too requested F/A so maybe with the amount of applicants this year F/A came into play. Essay was also very good, had several of his teachers read and edit. Good luck to you and your child.
Friday- NH- mail delivered, still no letter. Anyone else in New England with like circumstances?
Received my acceptance packet in CT on Wednesday, much to my shock.
Still no letter in the mail today but the decision was on the portal - waitlisted
Nothing in our mail today as well. How did your daughter’s portal show waitlisted? My son’s portal is the same as it was, just heading stating decisions being sent out March 20th, no links on the page. Thanks
Portal statement
