@Hero3408 did you apply for financial aid? Are you going to attend? Congratulations!
Taken off waitlist too. I did not apply for financial aid.
DD taken off the WL yesterday also did not apply for financial aid. Very happy. There is hope so if you want to go keep in contact with admissions - update your grades and achievements. They want to know you will accept if they offer.
Any Benton Scholars on here?
congratulations to class of 2023.
tough field you had to endure. 22.6% acceptance rate overall. much harder for internationals. https://www.colgate.edu/admission-aid/apply/first-year-class-profile
Congratulations to all admitted students in the Colgate Class of 2023!
I just reviewed your statistics on colgate.edu and was delighted with 2 things:
- your class size is right on target - which begs the question as to how Colgate Admissions does such an exacting job so well year after year; and
- today the new colgate.edu was delivered live. It’s bang up to date and seems to offer more content and accessibility.
Best of luck at Colgate and enjoy every minute of your undergraduate years. They will simply fly by, believe me!
Go ‘gate!
Markham - I am curious. You say the class size was on target. Do you know what the class size has been the last few years? Has the average freshman class size increased over the last four years?
It is also interesting that 56% of the incoming freshman class was admitted early decision.
AriBenSion,
As I understand recent trends, the target class number is in the area of 790. This will be the fourth largest class and the current rising sophomore class was over target at 815. There have been slightly larger classes though in past years.
There was a time in the 1970s when Colgate’s student number was in the area of 2500 and it operated on a year round basis with most taking a fall or spring term off and attending during a summer term. That system was altered after several years with the addition of a few academic buildings, residences, recreational facilties and supporting staffing and programs. Now there are several more of each type including Benton, Jane Pinchin and Burke Halls opened during the past year. The early 1960s enrollment when Colgate was an all male institution was in the area of 1600; its enrollment today is closer to 3000.
Go 'gate!
Markham -
Thanks for your detailed reply. Colgate is a very, very exciting place right now. The “new” president is really exceptional.
Interesting about how the University used to use the full year. The long winter is so extreme there and the summer is so wonderful. The students not being there in the summer is a missed opportunity.
I agree: Go Gate!
Students, counselors and parents are getting better at strategizing and choosing early. For these elite schools, it is always better to apply ED once you know it is a fit for you. These schools also look for those whom they think are a fit for the class they are assembling.
Anyone from here who got in as part of Class of 2023 with financial aid pkg and federal work study program?
