Colgate University Class of 2016

Waitlisted
Very international relations and language oriented activities, scholarships, and essays.

Letter states they accepted 27 off WL last year… Here’s hoping

Waitlisted here as well. 31 on ACT, 4.3 GPA on a 4 scale weighted. If you have questions regarding other credentials, just let me know.

Did any international students who got waitlists receive email?

ACCEPTED!
102.44 weighted/ 97 unweighted GPA (I’m sorry I don’t know the 4.0 scale)
Strong Reccomendations (quoted on admissions letter)
Strong ECs/ community service
2080 SAT (1380, 2 part)
wrote a strong supplemental essay and told them in a breif statement that I visited when I was in 8th grade with my sister and since then Colgate has been on the top of my list! (Which is very, very true!)
Can’t wait to visit again this APril!
Congrats to all!!!

My D was accepted. There was nothing in the packet about financial aid. Did anyone have a financial aid offer in their packet?

Wow I can’t believe how nervous I am waiting for my decision to get here! Any chance it might get to me in Missouri by tomorrow? I’m not sure what to expect with my 3.8uw/32…hoping for a bit of luck! Congratulations to those already accepted!

@sciencewoman ^^
Yes, my D received her Financial Aid offer today inside her acceptance folder.

My D was Waitlisted. We were all kind of surprised, but life goes on. She will send in form to continue on the waitlist. She has great choices thus far and probably a few more to go. You can only go to one, so there is no need to get one’s ego so involved. We visited about 20 schools and she applied to the 7 she thought she’d be happiest at. Not counting Colgate, it’s hard to complain about having 6 choices.

Congrats to those who will be chasing their dreams at Colgate.

I am an international student. I have neither received any e-mail or mail. I am just getting agitated. Are there any international student who have not got their notification yet?

My son received his acceptance packet today. We live in SE Pennsylvania. Financial aid package was included.

Rejected. 1950 SAT 29 ACT, #36 in a class of 340. 4.0 GPA W. Pretty disappointed in this one. They tried to make me feel better in the letter by saying I had “special consideration” because I have family there, but basically all that told me was that I was such a bad candidate that not even family connection could help. Thanks!!! Oh and another thing! someone in my grade, ranked a little lower than me, with similar stats got accepted. Well he is african american. Good to know Colgate loves affirmative action. Thanks guys! Really great criteria, good to know where your priorities lie!

There are many criteria weighed by admissions officers when making these decisions and it goes without saying that you don’t know what they were in the cases of your application and that of your schoolmate.

So may I suggest that you step back and survey the big picture, and then look forward to the acceptances that await you? And show a tad more grace. Disappointments are part of growing up and how you manage them and represent yourself is a measure of who you are and who you are becoming.

Good luck with your college search!

Waitlisted… Gosh this is fun. I was waitlisted at UChicago yesterday too :’(. Does anyone know any waitlist stats besides the stuff they wrote on the letter? like percentages and what not?

Congratulations to everyone who got in! I know how much I love this school, so I can imagine just how excited you guys are.

Rejected 2070 SAT.international applicant from Kenya great academic stats average Ecs…got into wesleyan so im not that dissapointed.

no letter or email, sitting here worried :expressionless: did the portal tell u? or do u have to wait on mail?

@firework2 you will get it in the mail, portal will not tell you.

@markham thanks for the kind words, but I am not feeling all that graceful right now. The same exact thing happened at another school, I got waitlisted and he got in. He earned his grades and everything, I am not debating that. But man it sucks being a white male christian in new england. Not what you would call unique.

Well, for those who are wait listed, I’m about 99% sure my daughter will be declining and opening up a spot. I did find her financial offer, which was just a small loan. She’s been named a Johnson Scholar at Washington and Lee, and she loves it there, so that makes the decision a no-brainer.

@gheffty93

I’m a minority, a college grad, have a good job and I’m a taxpaying, law-abiding citizen and women still clutch their purses closer in grocery asles and elevators so at least you don’t have to deal with that!
Never judge another person lest you’ve walked in their shoes. Every setback is relative.

(i’ve always wanted to do one of these and never have!) Decision: Accepted

General Comments:[ul] this is such a difficult process. everyone ends up where they’re meant to though. I really hope everyone here is happy with where they attend! [/ul]

@downeasterdad I hear ya, there could be much worse situations. And it’s not like he doesn’t deserve the acceptance either. Just pointing out the obvious fact that being a minority helps getting into college a lot. I honestly wish I was a minority for thie whole process. Specifically native american. Being a white christian male makes it way harder.
