Collaborations between art & non-art schools

Hello!
I’m curious about class overlaps between comprehensive schools and art schools. For example, a student at RISD could sample a few classes at Brown (& vice versa) and a student at Occidental College could take classes at art center (& vice versa).

Do you know of more similar overlaps that take place between prominent art schools and near-by non-art schools? As a student interested in art as well as a comprehensive college experience, I would be so appreciative of any input.

Thank you so much!

MICA/JHU but not sure how it works. You are best off checking with your schools of interest to better understand what they offer here.

Perhaps your best bet is to enroll at a university with a school of art and design. Of course, several good-to-excellent liberal arts programs offer a decent major in art (although not as intense as the art-school BFA/studio experience).

A lot depends on whether you plan to supplement your art studies with academic courses or vice versa.

Thank you for your input! I appreciate it.

As much as they tout it at tours etc, the reality is that it’s NOT easy to fit Brown classes into a RISD schedule. Kid1 is a senior there and the way the studios are scheduled fills large blocks of time AND they are on completely different semester schedules. Obviously it works for some (there’s the RISD/Brown dual degree program).

However, she uses the laser cutters at Brown all the time.
