College Admission: Residential question?

I moved to Washington in July, and I hope to attend University of Washington. My question is, when colleges look at your application, do they check residence and decide if you pay in-state /out out of state tuition when the actual fall term starts, or when you turn your application in?

You have to live in a state for a full year before you are called a permanent residence, so i was worried that they will count me as out-of-state since applications are sent in december.

If the college has In-state and OOS policy, they definitely check the residency. You have to provide evidence. The most useful one is definitely your high school diploma. Usually they ask more if they can’t be so sure.

I certainly don’t know about adjusting the tuition plan later, but in your case, you should always contact the admission office, because at the time being for the application you are not permanent residence, so you aren’t qualify for the adjustment at the moment. You will charged for the OOS most likely.
