A top school does not care how much you love them. So showing your “passion” for them just makes you one out of thousands of applicants. They want to know if you understand them and researched them. If you don’t get in, it probably won’t be because of the Why X essay.
You should stop the idea of a “dream school”. You need a list of schools with a range of selectivity that you’d be willing to attend.
The colleges see generic quite often, I would think. Generic, of course, still has potency, it Is just that your signature - singular- mark is not discernable.
The biggest thing you can do right now is remember to dig in a little more deeply, and differently, for the next college’s essay.
If you’ve presented the strongest overall application that you can, and found from the outset enough to give you the confidence to apply, just breathe. If you’ve presented your preparation across other aspects of yourself (academics, focused extracurricular and outside activities which show who you are and what you value, testing and classsroom requirements), just let it go.
The colleges will do what they are going to do.
You will land at a great institution where you will thrive and grow, but pulling your hair out right now won’t help you finish this year out strong.
