College Admissions Enrollment Deposit Confusion

<p>Hi guys, so here is my situation. I am a transfer student(Business major) and got admitted to University of Maryland, which has an enrollment deadline of May 8. I also applied to Georgetown, which is my dream school for as long as I can remember. The thing is that I probably won't hear back from Georgetown for another two weeks. </p>

<p>My question: if i put down the deposit money for Maryland, does that mean I'm bound to UMD? What happens if I just pay the money and end up not going? Also, if later Georgetown finds out that I confirmed enrollment at another school, will it work against me towards my admission decision?</p>

<p>make the deposit, if you end up going to georgetown, all that happens is you may forfiet the deposit, eh</p>

<p>…and that happens every year, several times per year. Not a big deal, as long as you can afford to lose the deposit money.</p>
