<p>Is there a set sequence in the college process? I'm only asking this because my school requires that it sends all transcripts to colleges by oct 1st, but I still want some more time to work on my essays. So if a college got my transcripts/recs before my application, how would they file it?</p>

<p>Depends on the school–they’ll either put it in a general file for people who haven’t yet submitted their applications or open a file for you.</p>
<p>Either way, it’s perfectly fine if you send in transcripts and scores before the actual application.</p>
