College application: the early bird catches the worm?

I know that it is good to start apps (particularly essays) very early but would submitting your app weeks before the deadline help your chances too? I was planning on finishing and submitting my EA app a month in advance (Oct 1) but i dont think i will be able to get my application ready in less than a month. Does it hurt your chances to submit your common app DAYS before the deadline? I really didnt want to seem like a procrastinator (but I am LOL)

yes and no. Say that there were two applicants with almost equal stats/EC's/Recs. Applicant "A" sent his/her application in 2 weeks earlier than applicant "B" sent his/her application in. Person A has a slight advantage than applicant B. However, this is not much of a "advantage" to count on. Rather, think it this way: No it does not hurt to send an application in early. By the way, if you do send it in early you'll have one less thing to worry about.. at least for the moment lol/
