College Basketball Discussion '09-10

Speaking of Lin, it was totally bogus that he didn’t get even one Div-1 scholarship offer coming out of HS, despite being one of the top players coming out of California that year.

It’s also a shame that he has to put up w/ racial taunts, which Lin states is worse at Ivy League games.

Never knew he had to face racial taunts, especially if its at Ivy League games…

Man, he has to show everyone that others can do well except for African Americans and Caucasians. It’s ridiculous that till this day he has to face that, hasn’t people heard of freaken Yao Ming? I hope he goes to the NBA as a high pick and does really well.

^True, it’s really sad that he has to face discrimination and overcome stereotypes just because he’s an Asian-American basketball player.

I’m sure he will get drafted to the NBA, he’s one of the best all-around players in college basketball.

And speaking of Ivy League schools…Cornell is ranked for the first time EVER.

^ Not surprised. Cornell always did well in the Ivy League so they always went to the tourney. About time they got ranked though.

“Cornell always did well in the Ivy League so they always went to the tourney.”

??? Not when I attended, that’s for sure.

This will be Cornell’s third NCAA tournament appearance in a row, and 5th all time. Always is probably a bit strong a word.

^That’s very true.

This is what [Pat Forde](<a href=“LIVE Transfer Talk: Man City to battle Barcelona for Olmo - ESPN”>Forde Minutes: 40 names, games, teams and minutiae making news in college hoops - ESPN) had to say about Cornell:

I’m happy for Cornell, but I would have more respect for them if they could pull off a win against a good team. It’s too bad they have to play in the Ivy League.

I agree, Cornell is good but will never be able to compete with schools from the big 10, etc.

I don’t know what I’m more surprised at, UCLA (.500 overall) tied for #1 in the Pac-10, or USC being only one game back from #1.

If Lee can reemerge, UCLA may yet be the least deserving Pac-10 champion ever. Unfortunately we probably need to win the Pac-9 tournament to get into the Big Dance.

Well I’m sorry I misphrased ONE word that mean’t a lot. Geez.

22 son!!!

Big game tonight between Purdue and Mich. State. Hopefully, Purdue can win this and make the top five teams up top interesting.

I’m hoping Michigan State wins this one. This is a crucial game in the Big 10. I’m confident we can win with Lucas, but if he doesn’t play, it’ll just make the game more competitive. If MSU loses, the Big 10 will definitely be a lot more competitive. Either way, I think Michigan State will win the Big 10.

Mark my words. I’m predicting the top 5 finishes in the Big Ten to be like this:

Wisconsin

Michigan State

Purdue

Ohio State

Illinois

With MSU’s loss tonight, anything could happen in the Big 10 if any of the top 5 teams lose. This is how I see it ending up:

Michigan State

Purdue

Ohio State

Wisconsin

Illinois

I think the Big 10 will be able to get five, maybe six teams into the tourney if the teams on the lower end (Minnesota, Northwestern) start winning.

Brian Zoubeck is HUGE!!! And Jon Scheyer was sweet! Go duke!

Duke sucks and will forever be owned by UNC.

:/ .

And? There is nothing at all wrong with that statement. Would you say the same thing to someone complaining about losing their job or crashing their car? “Hey bro, I know things suck and all right now, but you have no reason to complain. Just look at Haiti.” I think not. Keep grasping at the straws, though.
