college choice with hpme

i'm applying to hpme at nu. if i get into hpme, then i think it would be so cool to major in communications. however, if i am just at nu (no hpme), then i'd just wanna do cas and do a more traditional pre-med curriculum. on the hpme app it says to make your undergrad college of interest the same on the common app and the hpme app. is it possible for me to pursue communications with hpme, but cas with regular nu? or would i have to decide on one for now and do internal transfer when i'm at nu if i need to (if i'm even allowed as an hpme-er)?

i'm applying too!

you would probably have to decide on one for now and do internal transfer if you didn't get HPME since it states that you must have the same college on the common app and on the HPME app

I am 99% certain that the HPME program is where you get an engineering degree in 3 years, then go on to Feinberg to get your med degree.

So I don't really think that you can transfer to communications per se, but by some miracle you might be able to double major but the HPME program is notoriously intense.

So it really sounds that you need to make a decision, engineering + med? or Communications then apply to med school later?

^ actually (biomedical?) engineering is only one of the options, you can also choose any major within WCAS or the communication sciences and disorders major.

I agree, though, the OP would have to decide on one for now and then do internal transfer later.

you can go to the school of communications, the school of arts and sciences, or the school of engineering for your undergraduate years for HPME.. not just engineering.

from what i've heard communications is harder to get into (is that true?), so would it be safer to have an easier entrance into nu by putting down arts and science and then try to make that difficult transfer? or should i put down communications and have a harder time getting into nu but an easier transfer?
i'm thinking the former..

yes, comm is the hardest of the three to get into

arts and sciences is the easiest of the three to get into

and engineering is the middle one (but, is not much higher than comm admissions, so you could say eng. and comm. are equally hard to get into)

i wouldn't do it just for an easy transfer unless you are undecided.. if you know what you want to do (or at least have an idea), then apply to that college (ex: biology --> WCAS..... biomed. engineering --> mccormick school of eng......... and whatever is in comm [i'm not doing comm, can't you tell?])

i'm doing WCAS b/c of chem and biology

ok, so i think i'll just put down arts and sceinces
and if i somehow actually get into hpme, then i'll see if i can transfer to comm
