Im a high school junior and will be applying to colleges this fall. I am so confused about colleges. I have been working my butt off for 3 years to get into a good college but some advice would be really helpful
My stuff:
GPA: 4.06 ( weighted)
ACT: pending ( last score was a 27)
classes: All honors classes, 3 AP classes, through Spanish 4, precalculus
EC: varsity tennis since 7th grade, NHS, NSHS, 200+ hours volunteering at a hospital, medical explorers, big brothers big sisters, been published for writing

My top picks for schools so far: My dream would be YALE but I know i have no chance:(
University of Texas at Austin
George Washington University
UNC
Indiana
Boston University
Maryland

What is your home state? Will you need FA or some merit aid?

Florida, and i will get bright futures. But not for the out of state ones. I do not qualify for financial aid.

So you are aware that you will be full pay for UTA, UNC, Indiana, Maryland. Have you had a discussion with your parents about how much that will cost? There are some very good schools in FL like New College, UF, FSU, UMiami which would allow you to use your Bright Futures.

Hi,

Since you are a junior, you have time to bring up your score - maybe not to Yale’s level, but to levels high enough that you might get some merit.

You should also take the SAT, because some do better on that and colleges will accept either. Also, you might then get some merit $$ from colleges that give merit scholarships.

You say that you don’t qualify for financial aid, so have your parents told you how much they will pay each year? If not, you need to find out, because you might need to target schools that will give you merit money. :)

But…if money is so object, then you’ll be fine for most schools. :)

Is there a reason why you’ve ruled out all the liberal arts colleges?

What are you looking for in a school? Your list has no logical connection, having massive schools all over the country, urban and rural schools and Yale as dream but no other Yale-type school.

i love big schools, but i particulary love yale. I do not think I have much of a chance in other Ivy League schools, nor do I even think I have a chance at yale.
