My GPA is 2.3? i made several ill-advised mistakes in 9th grade that cost me sincerely? should i got a community college or apply hope i get accepted in a college willing to put me in academic probation?

Are you a senior? What state do you live in?

yes I am a senior and I live in Miami, Fl.

How much better were your grades in following years? If you take out 9th grade, what would your GPA be? Are your grades continuing to improve each semester? That will determine where you can get in.

How much can your family pay each year? That will make a big difference in your options.

Miami-Dade is one of the top community colleges in the country, and there are many campuses to choose from. If you end up there and work hard, you will have lots of very good options when it comes time to transfer.

My grades are a roller coaster. One semester their great, next semester the average. I always let personal issue and outside distractions deter form my goal? My teachers are usually shocked by my GPA due to my high test scores in the FCAT, so many of them have been giving advice how to stay focus and even keel when issue arise. Also Miami-Dade is an option but I want to go somewhere where I wont have to deal with the familiar faces who I was around when I was doing poor in 9th grade. I want to start fresh.

If I where you I would apply to the university of DC. It is in Washington DC so you would have great opportunities to do internships during college if you went here. UDC as it is known is not super hard to get into and I think you would have a good chance of getting in.

i"ll look into it… I’m still keeping my options open. Is there any other you would like to recommend.

What are your ACT or SAT scores?

How much will your family pay each year?

Edited to add:

I see that you’re not going to take the ACT or SAT until Dec…that is a BAD idea.

Schools can’t review your app until your scores are in. That would mean that schools wouldn’t be reviewing YOURS until January or later. At that point, the schools (rolling admissions) that might accept you will likely be tightening up their acceptance req’ts. The schools that might accept you would have easier admission standards earlier in the app process. Once they get to January, things tighten up.

but I’m no where near ready to take the test. if I take it in October I know for certain I bomb the test.

Then take the Nov tests.

Hurry up and sign up for them.
