College Creidt Courses vs Courses that don't give credit

I'm going to be a senior this year, and this summer I'm looking into taking some college courses. There are courses that give you credit, and courses that don't give you credit, they just help you prepare. The courses that give credit are more expensive, and it will be hard for my family to afford them. Do colleges look at both of these the same, or do courses that don't offer credit mean nothing? What I really want to know is that if I take the courses that don't offer credit (because they're cheaper), will they be looked at by admissions the same as courses that offer credit, or no?
