College deadlines and senior grades.

I will apply to colleges next year, but I have one concern. My junior year did not end as strong as it could have (1 B, 1 B+), but with 6 hard AP classes next year, I have a chance to improve my grades and college chances by getting all A's. However, my large public school of over 3000 kids does not report semester grades until around Jan. 20. Will colleges like Rice and Carleton with application deadlines on Jan. 1 and 15, respectively, see my senior year grades?

Many colleges have application deadlines before first semester senior grades are available and they require you/your school to send a mid year report when your first semester senior grades are available.

Every college sets their own policies. Check with the colleges you are interested in to see what the dealine is for application and what the deadline is for the mid year report if they require one.

Yes, they will take them into consideration. Even though the deadlines are earlier, adcoms will be reading and updating files until April.

Thank you! I’ll be sure to check with individual colleges if I have any doubts.
