My son applied Georgia Tech as his only early decision, got deferred. He added some required documents and submitted the deferral supplement form before the due day. But the Georgia Tech didn’t receive it. He has been rejected. I talked to the lady in the admission office; she said they didn’t receive the deferral supplement form, she let us to prove we did submit it. My son checked his emails and application account; he didn’t get an email after he submitted form. The emails we have are my son sent to my husband which said he already submitted form from internet.
I think probably their computer system has some issues.
Tough situation. It could be a case where your son filled out the form but inadvertently did not complete the submission process. I would get your gc involved
I don’t mean to sound negative and I know this isn’t going to help you but at this point I’m not sure there is much else you can do. Hopefully they will look at the forms.
I think it may be time to move onto the other schools he has applied to.
It sounds like the material wasn’t really sent, though we don’t know if the problem is on your end where maybe your send didn’t hit the final submit button, or on their end where there was a problem receiving. If you have no proof that it was ever sent it will be hard to get them to reconsider. If it was sent by e-mail then I would think there would be a copy in the sent items folder. If it was on their portal then there should have been an echo back of some sort. For whatever reason, it seems that the submittal did not go through. Its not the school’s job to ensure that they get what they ask for. Its your son’s job to ensure that they received it and he didn’t do this. I personally think it is too late for this school and he should be looking at his other options.
We live in GA. He is accepted by UGA computer science and university of Illinois at urbana-champaign Industry Engineering. We are wondering which college he’s better to attend to transfer to Georgia Tech compute science in the sophomore?
I know nothing about GA Tech transfer policies, but I think it is not a good idea to start undergrad at one school with the intention of transferring after your first year. I think your son should look at his options and determine which is the best school for him assuming that he won’t transfer. After all, GA Tech denied him once, there is no guarantee that they will accept him as a transfer. He needs to look at his choices assuming that he may be there for 4 years.
^^^I agree completely. If a student goes to a college assuming they will transfer then they never give themselves a real chance to make friends, get involved on campus etc. Then, if they transfer doesn’t work out, they are sunk. Best to go in with the idea that they will stay four years.
You need to ask GT if they will reconsider if they get the correct documents. If they say no, it’s over. Mistakes happen, and some schools just won’t consider late documents even if it was their fault. You submitted online but don’t have a copy? How can that be? You’ll have to recreate the documents anyway if your want them considered.
I would think UGA would be the better choice for you, financially.
