I gave my guidance counselor all of his stuff to do for my apps before november. He did it all but he forgot to send any of it out because of a clerical error. He sent everything out dec 1st which was close to many deadlines, and basically eliminated my chances of being considered early. As a result ive gotten denied and deferred from all but my lowest safety. Is tehre any way that I can communicate this to my colleges to get any sympathy from them in their admission review? He said that he told them what happened, and i feel kind of selfish to blame him, but Im really worried that this could have ruined my college chances.
Thanks for your time.

Am I getting the story straight...you gave your applications to your guidance counselor to send together with the transcript, GC rec and teacher recs?

Personally, I would hate to rely on someone else to get an app in on time. Why didn't you do the apps online? That way, only the transcript et.al. would have been late...which would obviously not have been your fault (and I'm sure the schools are used to that).

If you have to rely on someone else to mail something in, it's a good idea to follow up. My daughter and I have followed up on every single transcript the GC's office has mailed.

Even if I myself were mailing something that important, I would have sent it FedEx overnight or at least paid extra for delivery confirmation with USPS.

i don't think he gave his GC his application, only the recs and transcript.

If you received decisions, the deferrals/rejections weren't because the stuff was late.

I agree w/ 19382---the fact that the transcript, etc. was late wasn't his fault, and the schools should have recognized that fact; especially if the GC sent a note about why the stuff was late. He could also always call and find out why he was deferred/rejected.

Just wondering why the OP didn't follow up it, also.

sorry, yeha it was just my transcript, only the stuff he HAD to do.
im just wondering if you think i should somehow folluw up to the colleges to express my situation.

anyone?.......

didn't you check the sites to be sure all your stuff was in, didn't the schools let you know stuff was missing?

How many schools did you apply to early anyway? Sounds like a lot...or were many rolling?

Were these all EA? and what schools...this just sounds odd to me that they would not warn you, not ONE school told you they were missing anything? and if it was CLOSE to the deadline, even a week late, that was not the reason then you were declined...it takes time to process all the paperwork

So did any school have posted anywhere you were missing things, did you check the sites? I ask because, again, most schools want to consider the whole student and want to see all the paperwork and will contact you if something is needed, they understand schools mess up and don't want to reject you because of their mistake and they try and give you a chance

Did you have no clue things were missing from ALL of your schools, each and everyone...and you are saying no one notified you?

strange

If you are trying to make yourself look better to a deferred school I would not go that route.
