So back in November I applied regular decision to University of Delaware. I originally applied for nursing. I didn’t really know what essay topic 2 pick, so I did it on why I choose my nursing. I talked about how I choose nursing bc my g’ma has Alzheimer’s & i was inspired about how my family members & other nurses have turned their life around 2 help her & I wanna help ppl 2. But now I’ve decided I don’t wanna do nursing, but still stay in the same field. I want to do health behavior science. I just got an email saying it will take 8-12 more weeks for an admission decision. There’s a way to change my major right now, but idk if that would hurt my chances considering my essay is all about nursing. Ik I can change the major after acceptance but now I’ve been reading about how competing the nursing program is, even tho my stats are pretty good. I read let admit less than 200 out of 2000. The overall acceptance 4 UDel is about 65%. Health behavior science should be less competive. Ik I made bad choices but I need advice plz!!!

I don’t know how UDEL is but it likely will be easier to get out of nursing if you are accepted instead of trying to get in.
I’d call admissions and say you have applied under nursing but are now considering Health behavior Science. Ask them if the admission to the school is separately considered than admission to the major. For instance, I know at other schools, they may offer to admit you to the school but not the major. They then let you try later to re apply to the major once you are already going there. Univ of Washington is like that.
If they say that the 2 admissions are separate then I would imagine you will have no trouble switching to health behavior science. Nursing is much more difficult.
If they say that the admission is combined, then you need to ask how you can put in your new choice as a second choice so that they will still consider you. Good luck!
