Is this a good idea for a college essay?

So I know a lot of colleges ask for how belonging to specific group (race, nationality, religion, interests etc) has impacted you and I really want to know whether it is a good idea to talk about video games and how it has impacted me as a woman. I know it sounds dumb but I am really passionate about video games, whether it is gaming or cresting. I also highly believe that there should be a lesser gap between the two genders in such a male dominated area so I also want to talk about that. I just want your feedback on whether I should write on this idea for my college essay.

P.S. I am majoring in Comp Sci if that matters

It really depends on how it’s written, but it could work.

Gender Equality in Video Games seems like an interesting topic to discuss. But my advice for college essay is to keep it simple. Don’t make the essay about video game or gender equality. Instead, your college essay should just speak about you and things that define who you are. A lot students mess it up by writing about complex issues but it is all about keeping it simple. Write about yourself

Be careful about how you discuss your passion for gaming. Too many students have a crippling gaming addiction.

I have no idea what “cresting” is. I even googled it and still couldn’t figure out what it is. Be careful about jargon usage.

It’s ok to write about your ambition to develop games w strong female characters. Just steer clear of turning the essay into a debate platform.

Promoting strong female role models is positive. Pushing female game characters for the sake of “Gender Equality” makes my eyes glaze over. Zzzzzzzz.
