Do college essays always have to tell a story?
Or can they be an analysis of something like a music composition?

It should be about YOU. If you're analyzing a musical composition in the context of, say, your life, sure. But colleges can tell whether or not you're smart from your grades; the essay is because they want to know about YOU.

it is about ME
but it's not the usual essay that is dripping with anecdotal details with hundreds of adjectives that gives a good visual. it is more an analysis, a view into my thoughts and how this pertains to what i want to do with my life.

I didnt wright any narrative stuff and my essays seem pretty good

It doesn't need to be about a story, but the point of using a story is to make your essay engaging, interesting to read, and a good way to show your feelings and thought process. I would have some close friends and family read your essay and judge it based on those criteria.
