College Essay Topics?

I am a rising senior and for my final for my AP English Language class, we have to write a College Essay of our choice. I am planning to use this essay for actual college admissions.

Are these good topics to write about?

Seeing Beauty in the smallest (normally not thought of as beautiful) things

My dad worked in a company where he was able to go around the world and help people in countries that were effected by natural disasters. I was thinking about writing about how what he did influenced me wanted to help others.

My dad also helped out with the Search and Rescue team for 9/11 and that greatly inspired me. I would write about how that impacted me

I tend to put myself in awkward situations or do things that I am not comfortable with. I try to get comfortable during that time.. its kind of like facing my fears willingly

These are some ideas I've brainstormed so far, but I don't know what I SHOULD write about. Can someone critique these ideas and give me feedback? Also, what other things make good College Essay Topics

^???

The only one that pops out at me is the 4th one.

If you write about your dad make sure it’s more about you than your dad.

The first one could be potentially interesting. But choose whichever one you feel most comfortable writing about.

One of the most hardest and interesting steps in entire essay writing process is choosing a topic. It requires sufficient time and effort. Give enough time in choosing the topic of your essay. Make sure the topic you choose must be of your interest, relevant to your studies and you have some knowledge regarding it.

I was gonna say the exact same thing, you essay seems gravitated towards your dad instead of you

When writing an essay our goal should be to respond clearly and directly to the needs and interests of our readers. Essay and research paper writing is most important in academics.
[Custom written research papers](http://www.bestresearchpaper.co.uk) help the reader to find the exact purpose of writing.

Think of it as a mini-memoir. A memoir isn’t a day by day accounting of yourself from the beginning of memory – it’s a selective “alighting” on key moments in your life that made you who you are. That’s what the college essay is all about (as opposed to other types of essays) – it’s supposed to let adcoms know who you are.

If it’s easier, think of it as a memoir-movie. You’re the director. Camera focuses close up on an incident that happened to you in the past (can be the recent past), then camera pulls back, and you reflect on that incident and how it shaped you. Include a mini-scene that shows how you now respond differently because of this incident, then wrap it up.

So it unfolds in 3 steps: significant incident, process of change, who you are now.

^^^bingo…great post!

bumping this thread…in Classof2015’s description, does it matter how “significant” the incident is? or could it be something that appears small but has a large impact on a person?
