College Essays and Plagiarism

How often, if ever, do they check for plagiarism? DO they have a turnitin.com scheme?

My friend and I were talking about it and he said it would take too much time and that they can't do that for every single essay.

How does this work?

Thanks.

Just don't do it... you wouldn't need to know how it works.

It's only necessary, and not too difficult, to spot writing styles that seem inconsistent with each other, and/or inconsistent with the rest of the application. Once antennae go up, the material can be checked thoroughly.

Don't even think about it.

YOU are so stupid to think you can steal without being caught.Plagiarism!! Shame !! ON YOU for even a tiny bit of the idea in your stupid mind !
Sorry for the 1st time being so rude here on this forum.

Thanks for the post EnglishTeacher, but that was completely unnecessary and honestly stupid on your part for making assumptions.

I should have made this clear...I'm not trying to plagiarize nor do I want to. It was a topic that my friend and I were talking about lunch, that's all.

Will they think I cheated if I have two good essays and one decent one?
I just couldn't think when writing the third, so it is not as good.

yeah, that's what i'm more concerned about, aodh. if i come across differently in different essays and write one weaker essay for the same application... i hope they're understanding.

..and hopefully my two good essays make up for my average one.

I spent a considerably larger chunk of time on my commonapp essay, but only about a month on my supplements. Consequently, my commonapp sounds a LOT different for my supplements. Will they suspect something wrong?
