nahh it's just not a dominant trait..it's like a 25% chance or something that you could have blue eyes, assuming both of your parents carry the recessive blue-eye gene

hahah yeahh high school anatomy..

also strawberry blondes are pretty hot, i'd say ;)

Yep it's possible to have blue eyes. Eye color is much more complex than a recessive gene. It's a polygenetic trait which means that it's controlled by a wide variety of genes. The more genes you introduce, the more the probability is changed. Don't know why they didn't teach this in high school anatomy. I didn't about it until college.

Yea, highschool bio on genetics is soooo overly simplified.

"Don't know why they didn't teach this in high school anatomy."

Think about how smart the average high school student is.

haha lethargytm.....no way this kid is the product of a cheating relationship. He (along with his 2 brothers and sister) have the EXACT same birthmark as his dad (I have the exact same as my mom and grandma, kinda weird). other than the hair, he could pass for a carbon copy of his dad and brothers, so we know he's legit.

but we do still give him crap about being adopted or a forbidden love child because it's just so odd that he came out different.

only solution left, he is a genetically mutated clone.

pachydrermia--don't worry. Strawberry blonde is a good color. Freckles also aren't a bad thing (I have quite a few across my nose, but they are small, and then I have some bigger ones on my shoulders that appeared after I got a super bad sunburn 2 summers ago.)

sometimes i wonder if i was adopted because isn't it impossible for two brown-eyed parents to have a blue-eyed kid?
Freshman HS bio taught us that brown always overtakes blue and green. Then I got into AP Bio and I learned that it doesn't always work like that and that genetics are way more complicated than we thought.

Back to redheads: I love her hair color. It's just the super bright orange-red that I'm not a huge fan of. Darker types (like in the picture) are good.

I just hate how my hair is naturally like really dark brown. It's depressing. And it gets hot.

That actually looks like a good color; I didn't even know it was considered a shade of red until recently. I agree about the bright orange red; I've never liked that color and I like it better when the color is more neutral. I think bright orange-red looks very unnatural.

About your hair, maybe you could dye it a lighter shade of brown, something in the middle of the spectrum.

okgirl, try having really dark hair.

okgirl, try having really dark hair.
I do...It's like the darkest shade of brown (I tried to cover my highlights a few years ago and it was the darkest shade of brown they make). It's just boring when it's plain. I have highlights to try to give it some life, but I'm getting tired of them. I just hate having so much maintance, but I hate having dark, boring hair.

i love true brunettes! you're not reallyyy a brunette if you have light brown hair, i think--only if your hair is all dramatic and dark

brunettes FTW (at the moment)

i think leah is coming onto you okgirl.
no but if you have like shiny silk hair it'll be awesome.

lol. My hair isn't like shampoo commercial "shiny silk", but it apparently is healthy looking shiny and very soft. hehe I can't decide if I want to keep my highlights or just dye it back to my natural color. Maybe I'll dye it back closer to winter time since I love dark hair when it's cold out. IDK.

Okgirl- I have dark brown hair too (not quite as dark as yours I don't believe. but fairly dark). I almost always (now that I have a job && money) get highlights in the summer and then darken it back up in the winter... I usually put in Highlights right after prom (i like my hair dark & neutral & shiny for prom) and then I'm probably going to darken it back up this year sometime around Thanksgiving or Christmas....

^do you have a hard time getting the color to completely cover your highlights? I've tried covering them once before and I kinda just ended up with darker, kinda noticeable highlights.

Nope. I go to a stylist (well a friend of my moms but still) and she does it.

But really all you need to go is get a dark dark brown w/ a HINT of red in it. It will completely cover the blonde or caramel highlights and make it a more natural color. The red will be dominant the first week or so and then will fade and just actually make your color look more natural and give it more dimension. But it completely covered my highlights so..
If you don't want to mess w/ the red you could probably try using a dark brown w/ built in dimension. If you go to a stylist have her mix colors or something or if you do it yourself I think its Herbal Essences that has the colors w/ a little bit of built in hi & low lites. That would probably make them less noticeable and still dark. (:

^my stylist will never do any red because "it will fade out of your hair too quick". The color you described sounds awesome, but I just am so tired of maintance and that whole its-grown-out-some-and-kinda-looks-crappy-but-its-too-soon-to-dye-it-again look really bugs me! I get too frustrated with my hair. OMG and my CHI is acting funny now. Gahhh.

Oh my..
Well.. see.. okay. the color my stylist used was "chocolate raspberry" and the red does fade but the chocolate doesn't... So it leaves you back w/ dark silky sexy hair haha.
Right.. I hate that look too. Thats why I can't believe I went back to highlights, but w/ the other color I got it done in October last year, and even by May (prommm) it didn't look gross or anything, cause it was quite close to my natural color.

I just can't decide when I want to change my hair. I'll be due for another appointment the week before school starts. I don't know if I want to have my highlights touched up now (and dye it the next time) or dye it now. Hmmm. Opinions please!
