Agreed. I read an article that said Boulder is becoming the new Hollywood. As a former resident of Boulder, I can assure you thatās the last thing people want. It sure is an exciting time for CU students though.
Good! Because Iām tired of Austin being the new Hollywood.
ETA: Yes, the Deion hype is a thing, though itās always been. Maybe Iām immune because he played for my Cowboys so Iāve already heard plenty. But Iāve seen a couple of interviews and watching last night he does seem to understand what makes each player tick, and thatās a skill that shouldnāt be underrated. I liked seeing him take individual players aside for whatever it is they needed ā a pep talk, a kick in the pants or whatever motivates them.
Saying 3-4 weeks (but not saying what the injury is)
Deion is a glamour guy, but heās bringing a ton of money to CU and to Boulder. Boulder chamber of commerce estimates it brings $17M to the city for each sold out home game, and 5 games are sold out (and the last one will).
I was at the Nebraska game and it was wild. i wasnāt at this one (although stayed up till the finish at 12:24 am and then another 2 hours or so to watch the post game). A student won a $60k scholarship in the ESPN Game Day show. That was good.
Prime brought a lot to the campus starting in Jan. He hangs out on campus. He shows up in classes. He goes to the womenās basketball and volleyball games. He brings his hollywood friends with him. My friendās nephew is a buffalo wrangler and is required to eat one meal per day in the athletic training center. Prime wanted each athlete (not just football players) to have a health smoothy every day and the catering dept said they didnāt have it in their budget. Prime pays for smoothies for every athlete, every day.
Heās doing it his way, which I donāt always agree with, but heās doing it. The athletic department is making a lot of money on ticket sales, parking, merch, appearances. The players are making money on NIL deals, and he helps them manage the deals.
The kid who caught the two OT touchdowns and one 2 point conversion is a walk on player who has been at CU for 4 years (redshirted first year). Prime gave him the chance to stay and play. Prime says he plays those who work the hardest, and I think he does. His sons are really fantastic football players.
But we need some bigger linemen.
Put a helmet on Ralphie and then put him on the line.
Ralphie is a girl. (and just a baby at only 3 years old and a mere 800 pounds)
Did anyone catch Stanford football losing 30-23 at home to Sacramento State. Welcome to the ACC next year!
(Yes, Sacramento State isnāt a terrible team, theyāve won like 22 in a row, but stillā¦)
Good game, Michigan.
Go Blue!
Ummā¦ they played Rutgers.
Not a real game
Agreed. Theyāve only played Girl Scouts so far, but a winās a win.
My daughterās fiance went to Rutgers. Iām always somewhat surprised by their huge Rutgers sports enthusiasm.
Go Blueā¦ Had so much fun at a local Michigan bar in Chicago
This Oregon-Colorado game ā¦ oof.
We have a Michigan bar in the area and I met D18 there to watch the game, which starts at 9 AM here. They played the fight song in the bar after each score. And we sang Mr. Brightside in the 3rd Quarter. A lot of Michigan alums out here.
Me in a bar? The last time that I was in a bar must have been the Reagan Administration.
Finally, so sick of the Coach Prime hype train. I was hoping they would āhang a 100ā on CU.
Hey now! Letās not make fun of our flagship university! I may root for Michigan, but some of my favorite people went to Rutgers. And theyāre definitely better than they used to be.
Ok, thatās true.
I donāt watch their games much, but yes they seem to be playing better this season.
Notre Dame/ Ohio a state. What a great game!!!
Wish Iād seen it but was too busy with UT-Baylor.
Heard ND was playing with 10 men.
Not a ton of scoring, but still a great game. Of course, I was rooting for ND.
D18 was showing me some of the best signs from āGame Dayā (held in front of Touchdown Jesus) and the one sign that I laughed at most was āAn Ohio State University.ā
After the game, the on field reporter was interviewing Ryan Day and he decided to scream at Lou Holtz, the 86-year old former ND coach who had earlier said that he questioned OSUās toughness and said ND would win.
Maybe itās only me, but Iād cut the 86-year old former coach of ND a little slack. If it were me, Iād have let that one go.
Ryan Day cares about what Lou Holtz says now? IMO, Iād show some deference to the old man and said āWhat a great game, great atmosphere for college football.ā
