Hi everyone. Last week, I paid my enrollment fee for the college I want to attend. But, with my acceptance letters from other colleges, there are forms about the enrollment. At the bottom of the forms are questions that ask "I do not plan to enroll and I plan on attending ___." For the colleges I do not plan on attending in the fall, will I have to return these forms to them with this question answered? Thanks!

You don’t have to, but it would be a courtesy; mostly to tell them you aren’t attending, naming the school you’re attending is optional as it’s just for their marketing/admissions data. You never want to burn bridges unless it’s absolutely necessary, and transferring may be a possibility down the line.

What do you mean by “burn bridges”?

I think you should so that they stop bugging you.

Most kids don’t bother. You really don’t have to. All colleges expect a certain percentage will not enroll.

It is a kindness to let them know that you won’t be coming.

You do not have to tell them what your alternate plans are. It is OK to leave that line blank.

Would it be best to submit these forms before or after May 1? Thanks.
