What would you guys say is a good gpa to have in college? I finished my first
semester with a 3.55 and I dont know how to interpret that. In high school
this would have sucked and even though it still sucks I dont know what it
is relative to everybody else.

you’re dean’s list, which is a good 40% of the university ( [UVa - Students on the Dean’s Lists](http://www.web.virginia.edu/iaas/data_catalog/institutional/data_digest/acad_deans_list.htm) )

intermediate honors is ~3.7 ( [All About Your Academic Record: University Registrar at the University of Virginia](http://www.virginia.edu/registrar/about.html#honors) has more about this and other honors).
