College in the city?

I'm trying to find a college with the following:

-in the city, on the mid-east coast
-offers a communications (journalism or public relations) major
-medium to large student body

There is another thread on urban campuses that is full of answers. But what you describe sounds like Fordham. Fordham has a HIGHLY respected communications department that regularly places people in top journalism, television and public relations jobs. Its a fabulous school and lots of fun. Fordham- Rose Hill (Bronx main campus). Good luck.

All of the following schools offer either journalism or public relations as a major (if not both), are located on the east coast (between Massachusetts & Washington DC), are in a city, and have a student body of at least 3,000.

Boston area... Northeastern University, Emerson College, Boston University

New York City area... CUNY - Baruch College, New York University, CUNY - Brooklyn College, CUNY - City College, Pace University

Philadelphia area... La Salle University, Temple University

Washington DC area... George Washington University

American (DC).

The lists above are somewhat incomplete. Look in Petersen's or Barron's directory, or online at CollegeView — College Finder & Recruiting Service under majors for each college, and you will see which colleges in your geographic area offer a degree in communications, journalism or public relations. Again, I strongly recommend Fordham University. Many graduates are now producers of major television shows, work for major newspapers and media outlets, including NBC and ESPN.

Fordham has outstanding internships available and an amazing list of "contacts" for jobs.

Maryland is home to great journalism and communication schools. It's in a highly urbanized suburbs just a 30-minute subway trip from downtown DC.

I would have to agree with little atheist on Philly schools. One of my best friends goes to Temple for communications and is entering her senior. She not only loves what she is learning, but is having the time of her life at school. Def. check out schools in the Philly area. Campus Visit / Philadelphia .::. The official hotel and travel site for Philadelphia's top colleges and universities does a pretty comprehensive job of describing Philadelphia and area schools. It also has travel help when you go to visit. She used the website and eventually ended up there!

I think the University of Pittsburgh could be a decent fit here:

-in the city, on the mid-east coast - Obviously Pitt fits this mold.

-offers a communications (journalism or public relations) major - they do have a communications major.

-medium to large student body - roughly 4,000 students per class.
