College Interviews

When is the appropriate time to start making interviews with Colleges? When is too soon, and when is too late? Are these easy to make or little availability. Thanks for the information.

1) Most colleges (95%) do not have them
2) Of those that do, some offer them on campus for rising seniors the summer after Jr year. When? Call the target school to find out.
3) some schools have alumni based interviews. For these, they contact you.
4) Probably 98% of applicants never even have ONE interview.

Of those that offer interviews, the bulk of them matter little to the overall evaluation.

First see if the schools you are interested in offer interviews. My D applied to LACs which like it when prospective students interview. She contacted the schools and interviewed during the first couple of months of her senior year. She had one interview on campus when we re-visited a school, two schools offered interviews locally when admissions officers were in our area, and she did one alumni interview. If you have time this summer to visit schools and interview, that would probably work as well.
