College Letters in Highschool

Hi,
Well this is the best place to post a question like this. I read the other thread on college mail when still in highschool. Im in the same predicament. I took the plan test, did a resume thing (counselors made everyone), and answered a get to know you type of test. I had an internship as part of a scholars program, but thats about all. Lately, for the past three days. Ive been getting mail from my local collages i.e. DU, School of Mines, CSU. I heard they get your mailing address and spam you. They all say the same thing, "hi youll enjoy our campus, please take this survey" yadda yadda. I took one survey and found it slightly pointless (DU survey). Anyways do these letters mean anything. I know collages want to make money. But do they send you these if you have something to offer? Or is it a general statement and everyone gets them. Just wondering, havent taken the SAT or ACT, so I wouldn't think they would already be looking into me.
Thanks, have a great day

Most of them are just sending you mail so you’ll drive their selectivity up. Though there seems to be a correlation on how well you do on the tests and the prestige of the university. Ever since I got 4s and 5s on my AP exams and 750+ on my subjects tests I have been getting e-mails from several prestigious universities, including UPenn, Duke, Cornell, Rice, Columbia, USC, and even Princeton.

This is funny since Ive never taken an AP exam. Taking a AP class now though. I have a 4.3 GPA, but there are plenty of other kids who do better than me.

Usually, these schools will get your address from the college board or other similar testing agencies. Possibly because of your PLAN.

Ok, so their not necessarily interested in you. Their just informing you of what they have to offer.

They want more people to apply so they can reject more people, which makes them more selective and improves their rankings.

spam… that’s all.

It’s spam. I’m a freshman and Got my first one today from UMIAMI (FL)
But my sister has gotten some from the weirdest places.

Thanks everyone,
Too bad its spam, but it cleared me up.
