College Libraries

I posted this on College Life but I wanted to put it here to get more responses.

I found out that Berkeley libraries open until 2a.m. at the latest (except for finals) which is a major drawback for me because I like camping out in libraries and staying for several days in a row without seeing the light of day. (call me weird if you want)

Which college libraries are open 24/7? (specifically UCLA and UCSD) Is it common to have libraries open 24/7 on college campuses?

Duke's main library (Perkins/Bostock) is open 24 hours a day Monday-Thursday and closes at 12 am Friday-Sunday.

kentucky is open 24/7 except on sunday

"Duke's main library (Perkins/Bostock) is open 24 hours a day Monday-Thursday and closes at 12 am Friday-Sunday."

I talked with one of the librarians and she said that this was just a temporary trial run to see how much use it gets being opened that way... so it COULD continue to be opened 24 hrs a day or it COULD go back to shorter hours except for exam time.

Georgetown's library is open 24/7 on weekdays and until 3am on weekends.

Every university has libraries that open 24 hours. For example, at Michigan, it is the Shapiro Undergraduate Library that opens 24 hours a day, 5 days a week and until 5:00 AM on weekends. I would be shocked if Cal did nothave a couple of libraries that opened 24 hours.

Not every University has 24 hour libraries. I agree that more schools need to have better library hours though. Not that I'd be camping out for days, but sometimes the only time I have to study is mad late at night.

It's expensive to keep a library open 24/7 or even 24/5. Not every university has libraries that are open 24 hours. Longer library hours with increased in-library amenities, like coffee bars, are, however, becoming a trend in colleges across the U.S. Check the website of the college or university in which you're interested.
