Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone knew any schools that have a 24/7 library. I only know of one and I want to know if there are any others -- and hopefully we'll compile a full list of schools with such a great perk!

NYU!

10char.

If you are asking if students generally have practical 24/7 access to their school’s library, I would think such a list would include most schools. The public universities I attended in the 70s all offered 24/7 library access way back then. I had two keys to my small law school’s library in the 80s. While the library “closed” at midnight, I could let myself in and out after that.

Johns Hopkins, Duke, and Goucher have 24/7 libraries.

That is certainly not the case.

ooh, 24/7 libraries sound so cool!

Many if not most of the schools we visited did not have 24/7 libraries. Some have reading rooms or study rooms that are open 24/7, but I don’t remember any that had there full libraries open full time. But then that was not something I wanted to know.

Clemson’s libraries are open 24/7 from Sunday at noon till Friday at midnight. During the early morning hours (1-5 AM), you have to swipe your student ID to get in but the library is still open.

Rice Fondren library: Open 24 Hours A Day Sunday Noon - Friday 10:00 PM; Saturday 9:00 AM - 10:00 PM.

Currently sitting at Duke in the library at 3AM. I effing love (gorgeous) open libraries.

Too bad I need sleep…

The University of Alabama’s Engineering Library is open 24/7 from Sunday afternoon to Friday evening, while other libraries are open from 7:45am until midnight, 1, or 2 am depending on the library. I agree with the OP that late night hours (let alone 24/7) for libraries is great. Nothing like browsing for books at 1am.

goucher college has a library that is open every single day, 24 hours a day. at night it is fully staffed by security. downstairs in the same building as the library is a cafe, Alice’s Restaurant that serves sandwhichs, bagels, other baked goods, coffee, smoothies and many other treats. The cafe is open from 11AM-5PM, and then from 9PM-3AM EVERY SINGLE DAY!

still hungry after 3am? Fully stocked vending machines.

sweetest thread ever! (note the posting times)

At least one library at the U of Rochester, Gleason library, is open 24/7. Located inside the main library building (Rush Rhees), Gleason is a great library with white boards, small group study rooms, booths, and moveable furniture. It 's my understanding that food is not only allowed but that pizza etc from off campus can be delivered right to the library. Also there is a wonderful little restaurant called Connections right in the lobby. They serve locally grown and made foods including fabulous bakery items from top bakeries in the city of Rochester. Rush Rhees Library is also served by the tunnel system which connects all the academic buildings on the Eastman quad.
