College life at UCSD - regrets?

How do you like college life at UCSD? Do you regret going there? Did you know any people going into it and have you met a lot of new people?

I'm just so ready to get out of high school, begin college, and meet lots of peopleeeeeee

furthermore... a lot of my friends are telling me that not only do people often get stuck staying 5 or 6 years at ucsd just to get their bs or ba, but many people are not happy there.

is this merely a misrepresentation and only a slight amount of people feel this way, or do a majority of students share this feeling?

I know far more people who are happy to be at UCSD than unhappy. For me, it was easily the best decision I could've made - I love my classes, my suitemates, just about everything! I just wish parking weren't such a hassle.

I think many people are unhappy at times.

^
uhh...that statement applies to pretty much the entire planet.

well i'm definitely happy where I am...

I don't regret going to UCSD at all, as it's a really laid-back atmosphere and academically if your heart is set to learn and you put in the effort, there's no way you can't achieve a decent GPA here. so IMO if they're staying for over 5 years (i can see why some would stay for 5...spreading out 4 year plans is not a bad option) it's cuz they haven't worked hard enough.

I do agree that it seems a little "socially dead" and some people may seem unhappy at times, however. Especially at UCSD, you're gonna have to make the extra effort to meet a lot of new people. And a lot of times that's easier said than done. From what I've seen, I feel that most people here are pretty reserved(in general, there are obvious exceptions).

I'm pretty content with my decision. People are generally very nice here if you're willing to approach them or appear open enough to be approached.

The only problem I have San Diego is that my skin seems to have become extremely dry since coming here in spite of the copious amounts of lotion I apply on everyday.

no regrets

tip: join a club/organization, it's the best way to meet people other than those who are living with you

I actually like it here more than I thought I would.

that's cool. anyone else?

you know i had friends who are second years who supposedly "hated" it their first year when i was still a senior in high school.
but when i got to ucsd and met up with them i found out they actually really like it here now. one of them explained that you just "find your niche" and i think that's generally very true.
oh, i like it here too.

thanks for the responses :)
