i know they say college is what you make, but all the people i talk to that go to ucsd corroborate the its the lamest place on earth myth.

maybe you'll feel different once you're there?

The thing is, college REALLY is what you make of it. Wherever you go, if you aren't going to make the effort to put yourself out there and make it fun, then of course it's going to be boring. If you go there thinking it's going to be the most boring place in the world, that you can't make friends, etc., then that's probably how it's going to be. You need to get the stereotypes out of your head. Go to college, be yourself, make friends, have fun. That's all you really need to do.

if i were you i'd be running down the streets with joy. it's too bad ucsd doesnt want me. i hope that made you feel better cuz i want to go there but can't. i'm just as depressed but towards another school.

thank you, maybe i can sneak you in with me?

nah...it's just not the same but thanks for trying =]

it wont be lame if you hang out wtih ccers....... haaaaaaaa

but yeah I know what you mean. I never got too excited about going either, but I'm trying!

im pretty depressed too

Is there the chance that you're depressed because you're leaving behind friends from high school? There will be some people i will miss dearly, but I know choosing UCSD was one of the most important decisions in my life, and because i chose SD, i'm gonna make the best of it. I'm just gonna go around saying "HI are you from college confidential?" and then we'll see who's who :)

Hm...I commiserate with you.

I too am not thoroughly excited about going to UCSD---it's a very good school but I just didn't envision it as a good fit/ideal school for me.

I'm seriously considering transferring...

which college did you want to go to?

yeah i am transfering i have a tguaranteed tansfer to cornell, and i might try berk too

how does one get a guranteed transfer to another college (especially Cornell,Stanford,Caltech,MIT or UC Berkeley) from now only?

You can't get a guranteed[sic] transfer. If you do well enough, you can apply 1st or 2nd year and hope for the best.

Well I know if u go to a community college in CA u get to sign a contract with the UC u wanna transfer to......the contract states conditions like maintaining a certain minimm GPA while at CC and stuff like that......so do any of the privates (like Stanford,Cornell,Caltech or MIT) offer a similar deal........also is the route to a better UC (Cal) possible by the procedure I metioned above if ur transferring from another UC ?

i am guranteed admission to cornell for 07 in ILR

hey how hard is it to transfer from a UC to a UC? i'd love to transfer to UCSD from a UC or perhaps even UCLA. i'm gonna work crazy hard if that's possible.

cooladu, i got it instead of getting into cornell for fall " we cannot offer you a place in the fall but we can offer you one for fall of 07..."

oH Ok.......what's ILR ?

it is possible, but hard.. i think i might try it. My dean said that cc kids get preference but if you have the stats your in good shape
