Wrong. I’ve met people who do much better socially in college. I had no real friends in high school, but I’ve made plenty of friends in college.

^^ LMAO! That really is pretty pathetic.

Most larger public colleges are more difficult in the sense that teachers and professors do not baby their students. In High School, there is more emphasis on individual aid and teachers actually get to know you. In larger colleges, if you do not put forth the effort to meet your profs, they will only be there as a lecturing resource, rather then help you on an individual basis. College gives students a choice to learn how they please. Some students prefer to not speak much and just attend lectures and pass exams, that works for them. Other students take advantage of the TAs and get to know the profs. Its the freedom to choose that makes it great.

I find it to be fairly similar…it’s true that people are slightly more open/friendly. But honestly, if your personality before was to be somewhat withdrawn/miserable, then even if people ARE more friendly it will be hard to get yourself out of your “box”.

I had a few close friends in HS and I was good with that…in college it is harder to do that…some of my friends have dropped out…others have transferred…others have drifted…some have graduated. College seems to be more of a “transient” atmosphere than middle school/high school, where you feel like those close friends you make will be with you forever. However I have a much larger number of acquiatances.

I think in the end the differences between HS/college social life even out. Except in one area - no parents!!! The difference for me is huge - even if I only had one friend I would probably think college was a Godsend for that reason. Then again, my parents are very strict :P

college life for the win. but high school wasn’t that bad either…I liked high school when I was in it, but now that is in the past in comparison to college, high school sucked. This seems to be the general consensus of my friends, but it does vary from person to person.
