The biggest reason -- the single most... ultimate reason college is 100x better is just because we are free of parental figures.

Remarkably, some of us have been independent throughout high school, but we still behave in the same manner we would in front of our parents.

I have been able to do whatever I want at my own house for a long, long time. I chose not to do "bad" things or go out when it might be inappropriate.

Guess what? Even though we are "free" at school some people, remarkably enough, act just like they did in high school. And I do nothing at school alone that I would not want my parents to see.

It'd be wrong of me to say I had a bad high school experience, but while I did have a good one I was so over it and ready for college all throughout senior year. This first semester has definitely exceeded my expectations. I'm still just as involved and taking as tough classes as I did in high school, and I still find myself with plenty of time leftover to do whatever I want.

My parents were pretty strict, and although by the end of my senior year I could come and go as I please and they weren't strict anymore, it was so nice to have the freedom to do what I want. I'm glad I learned how to balance my time in HS and how to work under pressure, because I have been able to have way more fun now without compromising my academics or EC's.

To the above posters, I definitely do a few things that I would never do in front of my parents and never did in high school, so college is more than considerably different for me.
