College List

Hi! I am a junior and I am starting to add colleges to my list. I want to pursue a career in veterinary medicine and attend vet school after college, so I am looking mainly at schools that have good animal science programs. So far, I am interested in UC Davis, Cal Poly SLO, Purdue, and UNC because I loved it when I visited. I would like to go somewhere that has seasons, as I am from California and I would like a change. I want a mid-size school, preferably with a good sports team because I want to go to games. What schools should I add to my list? Also, schools with early entrance vet programs would be great  I’m just not sure how many schools offer that sort of a program because there are only 26 vet schools in the country.

Tufts and Purdue have two of the best vet school in the country. I am sure the ug opportunities for pre health vet counseling will be outstanding there.

TX A&M but in south. Ohio State and Wisconsin

Kansas State has an early admit program and the vet school has just been totally remodeled and a clinical class starting in year one. My son is pre vet there in the early admit program and LOVES it.

Cornell and OSU.

Remember that tuition is often tied to state residency, so consider whether or not you care about maintaining your CA residency for in state tuition (in your case, UC Davis). Are there residency/tuition issues with out of state early admissions programs? Just want to be sure you are aware of tuition implications.

I would add Washington State to your list. It is mid size, in the PAC 12, a college town. They have an excellent Vet program. Definitely has seasons. Also is in the Western Undergraduate Exchange so might be competitive financially.
