cJgrl05,
Get in touch with your roomie as soon as you find out who it will be and coordinate what each of you will bring.

I think a lot of stuff is already covered in this thread. I know I found these threads to be very useful when I went off to college last year, although some things I didn't really need, like storage boxes and stuff since it turned out I had plenty of space in my desk drawers and closet. But I lived in a 15x16 room, so there was room for stuff.

A lamp, fan, some plates, cups, fridge, maybe some carpet if you have the money to spend, photographs, your bathroom essentials and a tote, and I think the rest that you need have been mentioned.

Yeah, I guess thats why schools recommend we get in contact w/ our roommates during the summer so that we can talk and see who's bringing what.

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but with the roomate issue: it's better if you bring separate items each rather than share the cost of all the heavy equiptment. Your roomie can bring the phone, and TV and you'll cover the mini fridge and carpet for example. That way when the year ends, you'll know who owns what and you'll each get to keep your things :)

sorry if this is a dumb question/ has already been answered and i didnt notice it, but for the cork/dry erase boards, how do you put those on the wall? w. that gummy stick stuff? cuz i didnt think that would hold it.....?

thanks

another reason to get a good water filter: Dubra, when filtered many times, magically turns into Gray Goose...

Here is a good checklist of the essentials: http://getschooled.com/guides/19/

instead of an alarm clock (or in addition to one) you might consider this nifty free little program:
Alarm

It has your computer automatically play a sound or music file at a specified time
