College of Ed transfers

Looking to possibly transfer to UT next spring, and I wanted to get some insight from anyone who’s had success transferring into the College of Ed…specifically Youth and Community Studies! (but any other majors within the COE are welcomed)

With the College of Education, and as a transfer applicant in general, good grades and a high GPA, backed by strong essays and a strong resume will do you a lot of good. With any education major, along with majors pursuing teacher certifications, writing your essay(s) about why you want to be a teacher is always a good move. Getting jobs/internships at schools, daycares, camps, etc. will help tremendously. If you can take a class that gives you the opportunity to student teacher/do class observations, take it. I’m a history major with a teacher certification and even though its not the grade level(s) I’m interested in teaching, I took an early education class both because it was UT recommended, and so I could add on those student teaching/observation hours onto my resume.
