Hi! Can anybody tell me anything about the Teacher Education program at UF? I'm curious about:
1. How difficult is it to get in? I have a 3.5 GPA (no honors) lots of service hours, and will have an AA in May 2012.
2. Anything anybody wants to mention about this field at UF would be so appreciated.
Best,
Lindsey

Hello,

If you were to transfer into the College of Education as an undergrad, it will actually be under the Pro-Teach program UF offers, where you will complete your program in a fifth year of study as post-baccalaureate or master’s degree student.

UF’s College of Educations has good rankings.
This link will provide more information for you.

Thanks so much!

No problem. And as far as the difficulty to get in, I’m not so sure. It is a limited access program so you want to be as competitive with your grades as possible! So keep a strong overall and prereq GPA.

“We require a minimum score of 1450 on the New SAT (minimum 440 on each the three sections; 1010 Critical Reading + Math) or 21 on the ACT with Writing (we do not recalculate composite ACT scores), passing scores on all sections of the Florida Teacher Certification Examination’s General Knowledge Test (FTCE-GK), completion of the three Preprofessional courses with grades of C or higher and a 3.0 GPA, and award of the AA with an AA GPA of 2.6 or higher. To be considered competitive for admission you must also complete all College Distribution courses with grades of C or higher and a 2.6 GPA.” –UF College of Education
