I applied for business undecided, but i was admitted into the college of letters sciences. Is this right?

it means you were admitted to the school undeclared but not the business school - i think

really? can anyone else elaborate or confirm?

yes, you apply to haas soph year

Really? I thought you're supposed to take a Haas entrance exam in junior year.

Vienna's right. You apply for Haas School of Business your junior year. You probably applied as Undeclared-Business, which would put you in the College of Letters and Sciences. (I did the same)

same for me.

Yeah, a friend said that basically everyone comes in undeclared, because you have to meet the requirements to declare major.

There are no entrance exams...
Your admissions to haas are based off of grades (esp prereqs), resume, and essays. You apply soph year and if accepted, start the summer before your 3rd year.

I must warn you, of everyone that wants to go to Haas, only 50% of the people end up applying (because 1/2 either don't want to do it anymore or they can't keep their GPA up). Of those that apply, just above 50% get in.

You're supposed to be in L&S if you applied Biz Undecl. I'm in it too!

You apply to Haas in your sophomore year, and spend your final 2 years at Berkeley there, if accepted.

Pre-business is in letters and science, so yes, you are where you want to be.

same here...
i am just wondering what happens if you don't get accepted to hass in your junior year?
i am also planning to study abroad 1 year in college (from what I heard, junior year is the best year to do so), will this affect my chance of getting into haas?

sorry for so many questions

so... if you apply for Haas and dont get in, what are your alternatives if you are interested in business?

^ lol whoops, didnt see the question above me

Everyone in L&S is technically undeclared. Specifying a major on your app only serves a statistical purpose.

You could try reapplying if you feel your chances will be better after a semester (ie better GPA or resume).

Or you could focus on another major 'somewhat' related to business (ie Economics). The same stat, math, and intro econ classes can be used toward economics, but most UGBA courses don't count towards other majors other than business. Econ is also a capped major, so if econ doesn't work out there will be problems.

If you're really die hard on business, remember that you can always do an MBA for grad school regardless of what your undergrad. major was. Many Silicon Valley CEO's focused on EECS or some other major in undergrad but later pursued MBA's in graduate school. It can't hurt to diversify your abilities.

if you don't get into Haas a lot of people pursue an Economics degree or Political Economy of Industrial Societies (PEIS) degree.

If your ultimate goal is getting a business job, you can be a part of a business organization, particularly business fraternity, and develop connections that'll help you get interviews w/o being in haas

You were admitted to the College of Letters and Science as an undeclared major (the only college in which you can do this). You can apply to the business school as a junior. The business school does not admit freshmen or sophomores.
