Simple question, which school will you have a better time at. I know HC's academics are better than providence's but I really like how providence has a big school feel i.e. big sports, larger lectures, more partying, more big name entertainers. HC seems like they keep what goes on outside of class and on the weekends under lock and key and I don't know any students who can let me know what goes on. I know it used to be fun there, but have heard rumors that its really strict and boring now. Academics are very important to me, but I couldn't go to a school were nobody takes time off on the weekend to chill out and have a little fun; basically I don't what a party to mean 5 kids quietly drinking in their door room. I just don't know what to do here and don't want to make the wrong choice.

You need to take the long term view and realize that you will be telling people for the rest of your career and life that you went to Holy Cross or Providence and people will make some judgments about you based on the school you attend. Holy Cross is decidedly more prestigious and telling people you chose Providence over Holy Cross because you wanted to have better parties will not be a long term positive.

@1980collegegrad thanks I really needed that. I know thinking about how much fun you will have in college should not be in the forefront of my mind, but I have been putting off fun for academics all my life and always thought college was going to be the time for that.

Do yourself a favor - take a gap year… It sounds like you need to let loose. Paying tens of thousands of dollars so you can have lots of fun at the expense of a good education doesn’t make sense.
