College Rankings...Driving us crazy!

Who cares about college ranking? As long as you're happy at the school and getting a good education...that's all that matters.

School rankings are driving us all crazy! Go throw out your "US News Best College" Books and stop stressing over it. Who is with me?

Reply your thoughts!

I agree with you wholeheartedly.

ESPECIALLY IF A PERSON WANTS TO GO INTO THE MEDICAL PROFESSION.

What annoys me more is that people think that schools in the Ivy League Sports Conference are better than outside schools.

I’d take Stanford over an Ivy League any day ;)

I would take a decent university that has a big party scene over stanford, ivies, and other top schools any day :)

I wish it was that easy to just not care about rankings, but sadly people do care about prestige. I will admit, ranking does play a small role into making my college decision. I could care less if I could get into an Ivy because I honestly can’t make it into one anyways (lol), but as long as it’s in the top 100, it matters to me.

People will soon realize that the price of prestige is debt.

“People will soon realize that the price of prestige is debt.”

The thing is, a lot of the top schools, such as Harvard and Stanford, have very generous financial aid programs because they have such large endowments.

Anyways, I agree with this topic. I laugh at people who say they want “to go to an Ivy League school.” Ivy League is nothing more than an athletic conference.

The thing is, at a lot of top schools, the majority of applicants and acceptees are middle class, for which you don’t get alot of fin aid.

I agree with all of you. I think Harvard, Stanford, Prinecton, Yal, etc. are all FANATSTIC schools. But not everyone can take
1.) the work load
2.) stress
3.) the rigor of the material
It’s crazy to beat one’s self up if they didn’t get into their “dream” school. I hate that every time I go on this website, I end up feeling bad about myself because I don’t have 4.0 GPA or a 1600 on my SATs. Its ridiculous.

The common, and unfortunately prevailing, conception is that going to a prestigious school leads to success and happiness later in life. That is not always true!

Prestige may as well be gone if can’t enjoy the lack of spirit for the meager sports following
