I wish it was that easy to just not care about rankings, but sadly people do care about prestige. I will admit, ranking does play a small role into making my college decision. I could care less if I could get into an Ivy because I honestly can’t make it into one anyways (lol), but as long as it’s in the top 100, it matters to me.

“People will soon realize that the price of prestige is debt.”

The thing is, a lot of the top schools, such as Harvard and Stanford, have very generous financial aid programs because they have such large endowments.

Anyways, I agree with this topic. I laugh at people who say they want “to go to an Ivy League school.” Ivy League is nothing more than an athletic conference.

I agree with all of you. I think Harvard, Stanford, Prinecton, Yal, etc. are all FANATSTIC schools. But not everyone can take
1.) the work load
2.) stress
3.) the rigor of the material
It’s crazy to beat one’s self up if they didn’t get into their “dream” school. I hate that every time I go on this website, I end up feeling bad about myself because I don’t have 4.0 GPA or a 1600 on my SATs. Its ridiculous.

The common, and unfortunately prevailing, conception is that going to a prestigious school leads to success and happiness later in life. That is not always true!
