What do u think would be the minimium SAT score and GPA for a college recruit. I have a friend who was able to get into an Ivy leadge school with just a 1220 on the SAT and a 3.0 GPA. I was just wondering if that would be the cause 4 most people or just for a few.

It would be unusual for this to happen. Using Columbia as an example, the middle 50% SAT range is 1380-1530. At the most elite schools, only 1-2% of the applicants have SAT scores below 1200 according to their own published statistics. Since 25% of the accepted applicants are above 1530, it is reasonable to think that the median SAT score is around 1440-1450 or so.

At Columbia, 90% of the accepted applicants are in the top 10% of their class and 97% of the accepted applicants are in the top 20%.

VERY few.. and those who do get in with such abysmal scores are usually URM
Iv never heard of a white kid gettin in harvard with an 1150

Anywho
It can happen.

bah, I read an article explaining the college recruit process a couple days ago, but I can't seem to find it now

basically for ivy league schools, they have a set number of people they can recruit with SAT scores below, say 1200. Let's say this year, it's 3
so each ivy can only admit 3 recruits with an SAT score of less than 1200, so it is very very competitive if your SAT scores are lower
1300-1350, there may be . . . say 7 spots, so it is less competitive
1350+ unlimited spots
(forgot the exact number, might change year to year)
something like that, i'll try to find the article

dufus3709, i'm sry to report that the student that i was talking about got into columbia. so i was just wondering if this sort of stuff happened a lot. thats for the feedback guys
