I really like the location of Georgetown. Its right in DC but the campus is small and you feel very safe. I would love to find a college like that but less selective and a little less expensive. Any suggestions??
Providence
St. Michael’s is only a few miles from downtown Burlington, VT. It’s a lovely school. Burlington is a phenomenal place for students. City trappings plus mountains and lakes.
Duquesne in Pittsburgh.
Macalaster in Minneapolis. Great school. Smaller than Georgetown, not Catholic.
Villanova could be a good fit still a good school but definitely less competitive than Georgetown and its close to Philly.
BC. Trinity, SMU
@Earthmama68 Macalester is nearby but in St. Paul
Boston College
American University
@wayneandgarth whoops! I stand corrected.
Have you used Georgetown’s online net price calculator to generate an estimate?
Sticker price is not the number that matters unless you do not qualify for any financial aid.
For a family earning $150K/year, the College Board NPC indicates that Georgetown’s net price would be ~$41K/year (although many variables could increase or lower this price). Less selective schools with lower sticker prices may or may not offer you lower net prices.
Many Jesuit colleges are located in/near large cities. http://www.ajcunet.edu/institutions/
If it is DC in particular you like check GW, American, and Catholic U.
But all are expensive so run the Net Price Calculator first.
Depending on your stats, you may qualify for merit aid at some less selective but still excellent schools.
Thank-you all very helpful
If you have decent grades, Duquesne will give you some merit and knock the cost to less than 1/2 of Georgetown, solid school, small contained campus in a nice city, nice student body.
