College Soph Transferring TO Acc Deg Program?

I'm a college sophomore who is really interested in transferring to an accelerated degree program (6-9 years) - the problem is, all of the programs I've seen are for high school seniors and people who want to start in their first year of college. I DO plan on calling a lot of the programs I'm interested in to see if they accept transfers, but does anyone know any off the top of their heads? I'm looking for programs that are in the PA/OH/MI/NY/IN area, but honestly I'll consider anything. Thanks!

I guess I should also add that I was a Biology major my freshman year. I've since then taken a break from it and declared an Art major, so I'm not sure how that will affect things.

AAH okay so I JUST did my homework and found out that such programs are pretty much rare - sorry guys about the post! Is there anything I can do, as a college sophomore, to actually accelerate the entire process? I just want to get this entire school thing done with. As far as I know, my school doesn’t have guaranteed admissions or anything similar.

What you can do is just try to graduate in 3 years from your college. so you’d be applying to medical school in the junior year of college. This is do able and I know people that are currently attempting to do this.

If I were you though I’d graduate in the normal 4 years that way I can do more extra currics, have more time to study for MCAT, etc. I’d say if you’re trying to get into a good medical school, you’d be better graduating in 4 instead of 3.

Yeah, that’s totally understandable. The thing is, since I’m an art major I don’t think it’s possible for me to graduate within 3 years and have all of my required pre-med courses. I am going to try to take year-long classes rather than just the academic year though, because honestly I’m not doing much with my summer and winter. I dunno, it all depends on tuition and fin aid for me.

There are programs specifically for college sophomores. You apply and go thru interview. They are not called bs/md compbined programs, they are like MedStar(t), I am not sure. Our local college has it. It has nothing to do with bs/md, but you get accepted in your sophomore year. If interested, just google.

I’ve heard of it, but don’t you have to already attend the school with those programs? As far as I know mine doesn’t have anything of the sort.

I just want to graduate! :P

Some other colleges might be connected to this particular program. I know that few schools in our state are connected to our local college. D’s friend (sophomore) had an interview for the program. She is attending another college, not affiliated with this program. You need to research details which could be different from school to school. There is always an option just do regular 4 + 4.

Okay, cool! I’ll look into it. And yeah, you’re right, it’s only an extra couple of years anyway. ;)

Univ of Missouri- Kansas City

Maybe they take transfers. Its a 6 yr program. Expensive for OOS
